Where is William Heise County Park?

William Heise County Park Campground is located just five miles south of Julian in the northern extremity of the Laguna Mountain Range. This 929-acre park is set in a forest of oak, pine, and cedar.

They have two areas for camping: a 42-site tent camping area and a 14-site cabin space. We’ll be staying in Cabin #5.

Looking for an opportunity to ease into camping and experience the great outdoors? Look no further than William Heise County Park! Our first-time campers will enjoy the comforts of a cabin, which includes a bed that sleeps two and one bunk bed, with room for an additional 5th or 6th person on the floor. While our trip leader will take the floor spot, all students will have beds made of sturdy wood frames. Please note that no mattress or bedding will be provided, so students will need to bring their own sleeping bags and pillows. A sleeping pad is recommended to ensure a comfortable and restful night’s sleep. The cabin is also furnished with an indoor table with four chairs, an outdoor table, and a combo fire ring/bbq.

Our goal for this trip is to get comfortable outdoors, hike and learn about the local flora and fauna, develop interests and skills, experience personal growth, build friendships, and develop confidence; all while playing, learning, and thriving in a beautiful outdoor setting. Let’s dive in and experience the magic of the great outdoors together!

During our trip, we will be spending quality time outside learning new skills and engaging in outdoor activities. We’ll disconnect from our cell phones, video games, and the internet and allow curiosity and wonder to take over and guide us. Our program is designed to help students connect with nature, develop outdoor skills, and create lifelong memories.
