The Experience

Healthy Challenge for New Hikers

The Garnet Peak hike is a doable yet stimulating challenge for students in grades 4-6. With a total distance of 4 miles and moderate inclines, it’s perfect for children who are new to hiking. The trail will encourage them to push their physical boundaries but is not overly strenuous, ensuring a positive and empowering experience.

Scenic Beauty and Vast Views

As we make our way along the trail, your children will be captivated not only by the immediate surrounding natural beauty but also by the diverse landscapes that Southern California has to offer. This hike will provide a glimpse into the varied geography that this region boasts, from a vast desert to dense woodlands and everything in between. At the summit, we’ll be greeted with panoramic views that stretch across the horizon, showcasing the tapestry of landscapes that define Southern California. It’s a moment that offers both a true sense of accomplishment and an opportunity for contemplative reflection.

What to Bring

  1. Full Water Bottle: Please send your child with a full water bottle, preferably a Nalgene or something similar that holds a liter of water.
  2. Hat: Sun protection is important; a hat can help keep your child cool.
  3. Lunch: Pack a nutritious lunch for your child. We will have a designated lunch stop at a scenic picnic area.

Note: I will have extra water to refill bottles at the start and during the hike.
